A favicon is that siny image you see in the upper left corner of a webpage or a tab. It can be a letter, a colorful graphic or a small image, whatever you might think will represent you and your blog or website is good, as long as you have it. I say this because there are a lot [and I really mean a lot] of websites without a favicon and that just sucks.

If your template didn’t come with a favicon, then you can create it using online tools. One of them is Dynamic Drive’s Favicon Generator [available here]. All you need to do is upload a gif, jpg, png or bmp image smaller than 150 kB, click the “Create icon” button and you’re done. You’ll be able to download the favicon.ico file. It’s that easy! If you require a favicon with transparency, you’ll have to upload a gif or png picture.
After you’ve created the favicon, you’ll need to upload it to your site’s root folder. Then, in your address bar, type http://yoursite.com/favicon.ico. If you’ve uploaded it right, you should be able to see or download it.

Favicon.cc gives you even more options: you can design [well, draw] the avatar yourself, withcolors, transparency or even animation.
